The lights purchased were exactly what I was looking for. They come on at dusk and go off at dawn. When on they operate on half power until motion is detected, then they power up to full power for 1, 3 or 5 minutes (you choose). What I like is that I don't have to remember to turn on or turn off the lights. This feature is especially good when on vacation or coming home late. Would highly recommend them.

We love these lights! You leave them turned on and when it is dark enough they come on low and when they detect motion they turn on high! Like a friendly greeting (though not to burglars, I hope, I love the way they look and I love the way they work!

Great looking light. So great that after ordering two I ordered 3 more! Go by the smaller of the measurements because there are two different sizes listed in the write-ups. The two level lighting works great at entrances and the only downside I see is that it supposedly (but I haven't tried)doesn't work with compact flouresents. I imagine it will work but it won't have the dim/bright feature.
